Came across two great websites today.
All this talk about Returning to America, and the Constitution and other trifling political banter, it seems that even around the “revolution” of our country, we hardly talked about “democracy.” A bit more about the republic, but hardly anymore, and those are two similar, but distinctly different terms. It was really until the age of American Imperialism around the two wars of the world that it became a discussion.
This, of course, within the context of the books google has digitized.
The slacking off/investigative possibilities are endless. Even a semi-colon vs. colon comparison is fascinating.
Speaking of democracy, what ever Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden have going for them is perhaps clearly the better route anyway. Are we seriously looking at how we compare and thinking, Naw, we’re still better. Because we’re democracy.
You betcha I’d give up 24% of my pay to gain all the other benefits of Denmark. We still rank as a third world country in terms of net worth, so what benefit is it to us anyway? I’m sure there’s something to their similar geographical location. If only Michigan were Northern Europe.
Too bad such a lovely site is filled with ads.
Anyway, a second attempt at some verse:
yea I know that guy
he’s the thorn in my side
I asked God to pull it out
but I tuned Him out
when He started to talk about my pride
you see this Sean Coté
is buried deep under my hide
It was worded differently in my head then when I had the opportunity to write it down. And then I stopped caring to figure out what was.
