Apparantly I am not the master.
I came home to find Master’s Choice organic soymilk in the fridge, and am finding it rather unsatifactory.
It must be my inferior palate.
Who decided to spell aisle as such?
I prefer ile.
Mike and Jen walked down an ile yesterday. At a church. To get married. And I got teary-eyed.
What a wonderful occasion to be part of.
She is taking him to Speed Week at the Bonniville Salt Flats in Utah for their honeymoon.
The prospects are not good for finding another woman as great as her also interested in going to something as fantastic as Speed Week for a honeymoon.
I see no real reason in bothering to hope.
Friendship and that wedding yesterday were the occasions for which I spent the last week in Illinois.
And the whole week was great.
The aforementioned stay at Sarah’s, followed by a stay at Jason’s.
So many films were watched. I think I got in a year’s worth of films for me in 5 days.
But I got to hang out with Sarah and watch some.
And hang out with Jason until far past the witching hour waiting for V for Vendetta came out, and then going back to his place to watch it. And then him calling in sick the next day and watching the original Batman movie. And Robot Chicken.
But there was also rare, and long conversation Jason.
And a splendid evening of conversation with Kevin Parker.
And the following evening with David Lamb.
And then picking up suits with the groomsmen and ceremony preparations and an afternoon-evening in Madison, for what is generally referred to as a bachelor party.
And then a beforenoon/afternoon with the fine folks named Amy, Lauren, and Nathan.
Then a rehersal followed by a dinner.
And then I shared Mike’s bed with him his last single night.
He would not sleep in his and Jen’s bed until they were married. So we slept on it by laying a blanket over the duvet, and then we each got our own blankets.
And then we had a pre-wedding breakfast at Royal Blue or something.
Then a wedding!
Then an after party.
Then a return to Prarie Rock with many a Judsonite in attendance, with much conversing, ending with just Lauren, Ian, and myself.
Finally, back to Jason’s for rest, and a brief Good-bye this afternoon to come back home.
I cried to country songs.
Listened to the fierce ending of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
I found it on three FM radio stations. Unintentionally of course.
I did not realize that many people listened to NASCAR on the radio.
Stopped by the King residence to drop off a package.
Wondered at the strange logic of Illinois drivers.
Listened to a guy compare the Food Network, and ultimately media as a whole, to pornography.
When I got home, mum, dad, and grandma were getting ready to head back up north for the new cottage to be set.
When I left last Saturday morning I got an oil change.
When I arrived home I was 1/3 closer to the next.
So much great conversation.
So much esotericism.
So much Just like we had not been apart for 7+ months.
So much greatness.
So much Cannot wait to be there for another year of school.
So much more to say.
Honestly, this week has put much of the rest of the summer to shame. For the first time I am reconsidering maybe staying in the Judson area post-graduation.
There was no Natalie this week, because I did not plan this trip out very well.
I will see her then.
Who invited alcohol and cigarettes to my friendships?
