Do we call anyone WASP’s in the States? I was not familiar with that term until I came here, but the only times I have heard it, it is refered to, ‘as you call them.’
White Anglo Saxon Protestant.
I got carded at a pub the other day. The drinking age here is 18.
I think the lure of the night life will wear off someday. In relation to the length of time man has been alive, the ability to stay up significantly later than the setting of the sun is rather recent and still a novelty. Eventually we will realize it is healthier and just as fun to be awake when the sun rises and sleep when the sun sleeps. I hope it happens soon, because that is how I want to live, but I do not want to miss all the fun.
Sometimes it is the cold days when one feels most alive. Perhaps it is the reality that one is feeling. After days of warmth, an undeniably cool day where the reality of the lack of heat is inescapable one is forced to feel it and know they are alive.
I keep picturing walking off the plane. The highways back to home. The roads to the cottage. Memorial Weekends of years passed.
There is a spider in the bathroom. I saw him this morning. I do not know why he decided to come inside when winter ended, but there he sits in the corner by the door. His body appears to be the size of the last section of my pinky finger. I have no issue with spiders. They do their thing, I do mine. I just do not like when their thing and my thing mix. They can continue to exist as they like, my preference is that their existance stays slightly away from mine. I have no real reason to fear them. They will not attack me thinking I would make a good meal. They have no interest in harming me unprevoked. But being near them is not where I want to be.
Liverpool won the FA Cup yesterday. It was an intense match. West Ham was the underdog by far, but they carried a 3-2 lead all the way through regulation with Gerrard scoring for Liverpool only 9 seconds into extra time. After the scoreless overtime Liverpool won in the penalty shootout. It was a fantastic match, though I had my hope in West Ham. After the match a guy, likely a Liverpool fan, jumped into the canal outside of the pub, and when he got out he decided removing the last bit of his clothing and running around would be fun. So he did. British High Society at it’s finest.
