I felt rather ignorant at the gallery openings this evening. I didn’t
get/like most of what was displayed. Nathan kind of talked me out of
feeling completely dumb, but I still don’t get a lot of it. I think I
might take painting II next year so I can understand abstract art
better. I drank some pretty crappy shiraz at a gallery too.
I think it’s fair to say I’ve changed. I know most people changed over
the few months of the summer, and getting back into school and all.
Hopefully people changed. But I seemed to have changed in a way I’m not
aware of, and in a way no one else did. I don’t feel the same
connection with people I did when school ended last spring. Writing
this out I’ve already come up with all kinds of answers and reasons in
my head I’m not sure it’s even worth finishing. I’m probably just being
ridiculous. Well obviously I am, because I’m the one who changed. Does
no good sitting here continuing to write about it.
Went to Mitsuwa today for Graphic Design II. It’s pretty neat. If I had
a lot of money, I would spend a lot of it there. I don’t, hence I
didn’t. I did buy a cold can of milk tea, and it was pretty amazing.
This is what the can said (and compelled me all the more to buy it)
‘This is special blend tea for sensitive people amd make a fantastic
story. Welcome to Tea Paradise.’ Unfortunately I’m only sensitive, and
don’t have a story beyond what I am relating now. As far as stories go
it’s pretty weak. There are a lot of things I’d like to try there. Some
stuff looks more appealing than I know it would have a few years ago. I
got some roasted green tea or something too. I’ll make some tomorrow
and see what it’s like.
I’m am somewhat bothered by this being the definition of awful:
1 : inspiring awe
2 : filled with awe: as a obsolete : AFRAID, TERRIFIED b : deeply respectful or reverential
3 : extremely disagreeable or objectionable
4 : exceedingly great — used as an intensive <an awful lot of money>
It’s the #3 that bothers me. The first two, and fourth are great and
how I’d like to use them. The first two especially. But how does #3 fit
in there at all?
