When athletes get old, they can’t quite do what they used to. When musicians get old, they just keep gettin’ better.
I headed over to the Chrysler Tech Center with my grandma this evening to watch Ramsey Lewis play a concert at the Walter P. Chrysler museum. Old drummers are soo fun to watch. They pick up so much technique of the years. The drummer played a 5+ minute solo. It was so good. He even used a whistle. But that was only half of the highlight of the evening. The great folks at Chrysler let me drive a Crossfire. And not only that, they let me nail it at a stop light on their private road until I felt like slowing down. I only hit about 75 because a curve coming up and I didn’t think the guy who was in the car with me felt very comfortable. But that was awesome.
The event was called ‘Cool cars and smooth music’ put on by Chrysler and the local smooth jazz V98.7. I usually hate smooth jazz so I usually hate V98.7. But tonight, I got a free jazz concert, and a free ride in a fast car. I don’t know anyone whose driven a Crossfire. That was a great evening.
It’s for the next three Thursdays so I’m thinking about going next week and tryin’ out the 300C or the PT Turbo.
Another exclusive reason Detroit is a great are to live in. It may seem like there is nothin’ to do, but ya just gotta look for it.
Oh, do any Judson folks know when school starts?
