This book, Six Legged Sex; the erotic lives of bugs, is absolutely fascinating! It is definately one of the most captivating books I’ve ever read. There is soo much about insect life I never knew about before. I was so naïve. I think I might finish the book tonight, so if anyone wants to borrow it, I’d be more than happy to spread the knowledge.
I’ll share one little tid bit I found interesting. And funny.
Certain bugs do dances and such to attract mates and for during foreplay. A certain kind of fly will bring insect gifts while dancing and showing off.
Species one brings just the gift and then dance, and while she eats, he takes care of business.
Species also brings a gift, but wraps it in silk. So while she unwraps and eats, he takes care of business for longer than species one.
Species three however, is the genius. He does the same as species two, and while she unwraps he does his duty. But when he is done and she finishes unwraping, she finds that it was an emtpy box! HAHAHA! That’s fricken awesome.
The wonderful world of science.
