the felix culpa is amazing. the drummer is phenominal. one of the best drummers ive ever watched. they were great. i want to see them again. now. in my room. then i want to see them tomorrow. maybe theyll play at second baptist.
if you havent read michaels site yet, the other bands that played were summers end and orfyn. in one of the orfyn songs a guy came up to do some screaming, and i was quite impressed. so when they said he was in summers end and they were playing next, i thought i was in for a treat. instead, i was in for confusion. the lead singer looked pretty hard core. and one of the guitarists looked like quite the hardcore scenester, but as michael noted, he wore an atticus shirt, which made him punk rock. the other guitarist was definately punk rock. the bass player could go either way. the drummer was all about 311. so they turned out to be punk. and hardcore. not hardcore punk like i guess stretch arm strong might be, but punk-hardcore. mainly punk, with some screaming. the singer had all the right hardcore moves. he validated his statement that he liked the way norma jeans lead singer moves because he had some hip swingage himself. that aside, he was quite the accomplished mic swinger. i was impressed. and i was impressed at how well he could scream while writhing on the floor. i wouldnt have been happy if i were his guitarists though, i would find it difficult to play when the singer is knocking me over. i think they are just slowly making their way into hardcore. slowly leaving the punk scene. the first band was ok.
there were some pretty good skaters at the skatepark too. made me wish i could do that stuff.
so the felix culpa was great, and it was great fun hangin out with michael.
